[Accidental Voice]
[The first sound that can be heard is a loud thump as the journal hits the floor and pops open to record everything that follows.]
No...
[Emil isn't even aware that his journal is open and picking up all of this.]
No, no no please no please... no... no!!
[His voice escalates in pitch, ending in a strangled, heart-wrenching cross between a scream and a sob.]
Richter!!
No...
[Emil isn't even aware that his journal is open and picking up all of this.]
No, no no please no please... no... no!!
[His voice escalates in pitch, ending in a strangled, heart-wrenching cross between a scream and a sob.]
Richter!!
[Voice]
He'll give Emil some time, though. No point in overwhelming the kid- hopefully he'll have calmed down some by the time he comments. Asch isn't exactly the best for comforting and the like.]
...Sometimes they come back. Don't give up.
[Voice]
[Yeah, he still blames himself for not being able to protect her, even though logically he knows there's nothing he could have done. That doesn't make it hurt any less.]
[Voice]
[It's cold, but he doesn't like to coddle people.]
[Voice]
But I--!
[Voice]
Won't he be back on your world when you return? Stop acting like you've got nothing left! You're not the only one who's ever lost someone!
[Voice]
[... but I'm going to have to fight him and I don't know what's going to happen after that, just that it probably isn't good. He's not going to say that, though, since he doesn't think Asch will listen.]
[Voice]
...But nothing. You're allowed to be sad. Anyone else would be.
Just... don't let it overwhelm you. You're not alone without him.
[Voice]
Not... alone...
[Now he's starting to realize that the Malnosso could take any of his other friends at any time and leave him all alone again.]
[Voice]
...Exactly. Just don't forget that, whatever else you do.
[Voice]
[It's not your fault, Asch. What the kid really needs is a therapist who will force him to talk about his problems rather than keeping them all to himself. YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM THAT TOO, YOU KNOW.]
[Voice]
There's a pause, because Asch has a feeling that forcing this kind of thing on Emil isn't such a great idea, but someone had to be a bully before he cried himself into a corner and refused to come out. He knows how it feels to lose everything, after all- you need something to keep you from giving up entirely.]
Look, Emil, you- ...you should talk to someone. Someone who's better at listening. You can't just keep this to yourself.
[Voice]
He's silent for a little while.]
I... I'll be all right. You don't have to worry about me.
[Now he feels bad for making Asch worry about him-- the other has already done so much for him, and he repays him by making him worried and upset? Yeah, way to go, Emil.]
[Voice]
That's a foolish statement. People are going to worry about you even if you tell them not to.
[Voice]
I'm sorry...
[Voice]
[Voice]
I... right.
[Pause.]
He could still come back.
[Voice]
That's possible, too. Either way, what would he want you to do?
[Voice]
To be a man, not a dog.
[Voice]
[Voice]
[That means BRB SMASHING THE BARRIER DOWN. Or trying to, at least.]
[Voice]
[See, Emil, that would be retarded, not manly. Barrier is saving lives remember 8|]
[Voice]
[This is somewhat LESS retarded than his plan to trick his friends into killing him as a means of atoning for Aster's death.]
[Voice]
[Okay yeah, gotta concede there. That is epic stupid.]
[Voice]
N-no, you... you're right.
[Voice]
Maybe it's something else we can help you with.
