[It's sunset before Emil makes it back to town... while he was lucky enough not to land in the lake after going through the portal, he ended up in the mountains instead, and it's taken him almost two days to get back. He's exhausted, wet, freezing cold, and most importantly, he's not back in his world. The portal also separated him from Sial, so he's worried about what happened to his chimera companion as well.

He looks about as dejected as he feels right now; every so often he'll stumble over something and fall to his knees before picking himself up and continuing to trudge on.]

[She makes a move as if to throw him on her shoulder. Where does he live again?|D]

[Backing away now; he's not a sack of potatoes and doesn't want to be treated like one. He lives in House 20 if she can get him there. XD]

[Rose puts her hands on her hips when he starts backing away.]

When will you stop being so stubborn?

[At that, he stops, looking down. He's just been messing everything up lately, hasn't he?]

[Aww noooo not the self-pity party.]

It's like you're either that Ratatosk jerk or this pathetic version of the Emil I know. Have you just...completely given up?

[Droop. He tries to say something, but all that comes out is a whine.]

[She shakes her head. This wasn't the Emil she once knew, and she has no time to waste on this new, pathetic version.

Rose turns to leave.]

[Now he doesn't have the words to stop her even if he wanted to; all he can do is let out a small, sad bark as if pleading for her to stay.]

[Ugh this will totally ruin her street cred, but she turns back to him.]

Are you ready to go home yet?

[He nods, defeated.]

[She holds out a hand.]

[He hesitates for a moment, looking uncertain. Then, at last, he timidly reaches out to take it.]

[Rose pulls him up, letting go of his hand and crossing her arms after she does.

She takes a few steps, expecting him to follow her.]

Come on.

[And follow he does! If he's going to sound like a dog right now, he might as well act the part, at least for the moment.]

[As they're walking, she looks over at him.]

Where do you live?

[... um. Time to hold up fingers! He'll hold up two of them, then make a zero with his thumb and index finger. Will that work?]

[Despite herself, Rose is amused by this display.]

House 20?

[Oh good, she understood him. He nods in confirmation.]

[She continues walking - his house is just up ahead. She doesn't say anything the rest of the way.]

[The house itself looks pretty dark and empty, but he doesn't seem distressed by that at all.]

[The perfect place to continue his brooding, huh?

Rosalie stands aside, leaving the path clear for Emil to enter the house.]

[Hey, it's what he's been doing for the past month. He's gotten rather good at it by now.

Once again he hesitates, then looks up at her to give her a little nod of thanks before starting to go inside.]

[She acknowledges the nod by pursing her lips, watching him as he goes inside the house.]

[The door shuts behind him; it's a moment before he gets a candle lit to provide a little bit of light in the window.]

[The moment she sees the light, she turns and walks briskly back the way she came.

She has no idea that he's living alone now.]
