[It was over. Everything was over now. And once again, much as it was after they had dealt with Diavolo, Emil finds himself limping back home, exhausted and in pain and vaguely sick at the realization that they'd had to kill Zelman to end all of this. Although he wasn't the one who struck the killing blow, it still distresses him to know that he played a role in the whole thing. At least everyone is safe now... right? He takes his journal out and opens it to ask.]

I-is everyone all right? It's... we stopped Zelman. It's over now... [His voice is tired, shaky, with a slight note of disbelief.]

[Now he just hopes he can make it home without collapsing first.]

[He gestures with one arm to a chair a few feet away. It doesn't get a lot of use from Emil and Richter, but it will do just fine.]

[And now he sounds a bit sad.]

[The mention of Richter causes him to smile a bit. Yeah, someone has a crush.]

[At least he THINKS they're more than friends; one doesn't usually kiss their friends on the lips to his knowledge.]

[He may or may not be bright red right now, and it's not just from the fever.]

Maybe I should let you rest for a little.

I'm all right. I'm not tired right now, anyway.

[Which is a total lie; he's exhausted but trying not to show it.]

But you still don't look well...

I'm just a little warm. Could you open the window a bit?

But...if you have a fever, that could make you worse, right?

It could? I... didn't know that.

We could probably open it for a little, but if your body is trying to fight off infection then we should close it soon. If we lower your body temperature too much it could take longer to get well again...

[Emil places a hand on his forehead, one eyebrow raised curiously.]

Do I have a fever? I really can't tell. I do feel pretty hot, though.

[He definitely looks more than a bit flushed, and his eyes have the telltale glassy sheen of fever to them.]

It might actually be a better idea to let you cool off for a while. Being too hot is dangerous as well...

[While he's hot, it's not a high enough fever to be dangerous. It is, however, rather unpleasant for Emil at the moment, hence his desire to open the window. He sighs and hangs his head.]

I'm sorry... I should never have left the clinic.
