[The first sound that can be heard is a loud thump as the journal hits the floor and pops open to record everything that follows.]

[Emil isn't even aware that his journal is open and picking up all of this.]

[His voice escalates in pitch, ending in a strangled, heart-wrenching cross between a scream and a sob.]

[He's curled up in a ball on the floor in the bedroom just sobbing his heart out, not even caring that his journal is open.]

[Sorry Sheena, he isn't exactly paying attention.]

Emil...

[goes over and crouches down next to him. She knows it's hard to lose somebody]

[It's bad enough when it's just a friend who has been sent home, but this is the person he loves more than anything. "Heartbroken" doesn't even manage to describe how he feels right now.]

[have a hand on your shoulder that will rub your back a little after a few moments of frozen awkwardness]

[He tenses up for a moment but then goes limp, the sobs wracking his entire body as the dam just breaks.]

[there aren't really words for this sort of event. Gone and possibly never coming back but not dead...well, that's only happened, outside of Luceti, to one other person and he doesn't really talk about it. But there is a kind of half-hug]

[Here in Luceti, even dead wouldn't have been as bad. Dead would mean that he would be back in a week or so, but this... he might never come back, and that's what terrifies Emil.

The hug triggers his cling response and he attaches like a koala, still sobbing.]

[aww, Emil. ...She's not really sure what to do with you. So comfort it is, for now]

[Comfort works just fine, especially now that the one person who usually let him cling when he needed it is gone.

[There's a good reason he slipped up and accidentally called her "Mom" that one time-- she's one of the closest things to a mother that he's ever had. Just being around her makes him feel a little safer.]
