[The first sound that can be heard is a loud thump as the journal hits the floor and pops open to record everything that follows.]

No...

[Emil isn't even aware that his journal is open and picking up all of this.]

No, no no please no please... no... no!!

[His voice escalates in pitch, ending in a strangled, heart-wrenching cross between a scream and a sob.]

Richter!!

[Unlike most people, Yuri doesn't bother with knocking when he reaches the front door, or even the bedroom ~~after getting a little lost in the house for a few moments, but details~~. Anyway, sorta-kinda calling from the doorway now.]

... Emil.

[Not like he expects a real response. It's more or less announcing that he's in the room.]

[Good thing Yuri isn't expecting a response, because he's not going to get one aside from a choked sob. Coherent Emil is not right now.]

[Taking a few steps in the room and ... stopping. He's a little torn between just picking a wall and sticking to it, or doing something.

... But the wall won out. Therefore, he's going to lean against a nearby one and just close his eyes for now. He doesn't like coddling, especially not during something like this, but he at least wants Emil to know he's not alone.

So yeah. Brb wall-leaning for now.]

[Hey, anything that makes him feel less alone is welcomed. His usual source of reassurance and Musette are gone, leaving him lonely and more than a little paranoid about who is going to be next. Will it be Yuri? He has no way of knowing, and that's what scares him.

Eventually he's going to try to stop crying, but without much luck.]

[And once Emil starts to quiet down, Yuri looks over for a few moments before heading for the door.]

... I'll get you some water. [He originally wasn't going to say a thing, but, well, kinda doesn't want the kid to think he's going "/brb leaving".]

[This time, he actually manages to choke out an "okay" before sitting up a little bit more and wiping at his eyes with the back of his hand, his chest still heaving with the occasional sob. He's aware of how pathetic he probably looks, but he can't quite bring himself to be embarrassed about it. He's just too upset.]

[Aaand after a short while, Yuri reappears with a glass of water. Nothing amazing going on here -- he just walks over to Emil's side and holds it out for him.]

[He reaches out for the glass... and almost drops it. Okay, shaky hands are not very conducive to glass-holding. Maybe he should wait a little bit before trying to take it again.]

[Yuri'll wait around. Not like he can do much else. But still, seeing how shaky the kid is--]

... Relax, Emil. Letting yourself get worked up like this isn't going to help anything.

I know, b-but...

[... but this hurts more than anything I've ever felt before and I don't know how to make it stop.]

[Sigh. He'll just put the water down next to the kid, then.] It's painful -- I know. But if you're just going to sit there and let that pain keep you down, then nothing will change for you.

I'm not saying you should smile or shrug it off right away, but you can't let this beat you down, either. Understand?

[Ffff Yuri that's almost the exact wording Richter used to him once.]

What... what would you do if Judith was sent home?

[F-fff. Emil, Yuri really doesn't want to think about that when he has a kid with her and when she's from another point in their timeline altogether. But he's not gonna let that show -- he just takes a moment to answer.]

... I don't know. I'll never know unless it happens. But however things end up, I'd still keep going on with what I have to do. I can't waste time feeling sorry for myself when I have a son that would need me more than ever at that point.

[Hey, Emil knows all about different points in timeline issues, since he had the same thing with Richter.]

T-that's right, you have Jonah now.

[Though he won't say it, there's a little part of Emil that's worried he's going to be forgotten in favor of Jonah now that the kid is here. After all, kids are a huge responsibility, right? So of course Yuri is going to be busy taking care of him. Suddenly Emil feels bad for pulling Yuri away from his family.]

He needs you to take care of him.

... Yeah.

[He's getting an odd feeling from the way Emil said all that, but he's not going to dwell on it. If he gets that feeling again some time in the future, he's definitely going to bring it up.]

You think you'll be alright on your own for now?

Y-yes. Thank you for coming over, Yuri. I'm sorry to bother you like this.

[Okay, so he's totally lying about being okay, but when is Emil ever honest about that kind of thing?]

[Bah. Lie or not, you're getting a bit of a hair ruffle, Emil. Nothing major.]

Hey, I chose to get involved on my own, didn't I? You don't have to apologize for something like that.

[The hair ruffle brings him painfully close to tears again (because Richter used to always pet his hair), but he manages to force them back down and fake a tiny smile.]

But I was the one who was screaming over the journals.

[shrugs]

Well, it's not like you did it on purpose or anything, right?

Right.

Then don't worry about it.

[And turning around and starting off for the door.]

... Well, I better get going. Get some rest, Emil.

I will. Thank you, Yuri.

[And he'll just get a short, backhanded wave before Yuri leaves the room entirely.]

[Emil is going to wait until he's absolutely sure that Yuri is gone before he lets himself start crying again. He doesn't want the other to see that he's not as okay as he tried to pretend.]
