[It's late in the evening after a busy day of work at the tea shop, cooking and chores, and animal-wrangling that Emil finally sits down to flip through his journal and catch up on the events of the day.

He's taken to using a certain Christmas card that Buffy gave him a couple of years ago as a bookmark in the journal, both to keep it from getting lost or damaged and because it's bulky enough (being one of those musical cards) that it makes it easy to find his place right away. It's never occurred to him that sticking something that plays music into a journal that can broadcast things to everyone else whose journal is open might not be the best idea-- he always keeps the card closed, and besides, he's been doing it for a long time without any issues.

Today, however, he's so tired and the couch is so comfortable that he ends up starting to doze off as he pages through the journal. Everything is fine for a while... until he rolls over a bit, dislodging both journal and card from their places on the couch beside him and sending them toppling to the floor, the card landing half-open atop the also-opened journal. Of course, this immediately triggers the card to start playing music....

So Luceti, enjoy the very tinny version of "Jingle Bells" that is currently being broadcast over the journals. Emil has no idea his journal is even on.]

I speak of the same man! And this man only brings presents to those he finds to be nice! You do not take into account those who are naughty.

Doesn't he just leave coal in the stockings of people who were naughty?

Yes, that is the only punishment that we know of. I am sure that he is capable of being much more severe if the occasion calls for it.

But why would he do that? I mean, maybe if the person did something really terrible, but wouldn't getting coal be enough of a punishment for most things?

That's not for us to decide. Santa-sama is the one who passes judgement. I cannot question his ways, not when he wields such awesome power.

You're making Santa sound like some sort of creepy bad guy. I thought he was just a nice old man who went around giving presents to all of the good children...

I am? I do not mean to misrepresent him. Of course he is a nice old man who gives presents to the good children. In fact, he is one of the noblest ninja warriors I have ever heard of!

Ninja warrior?

I didn't know Santa was a ninja... Sheena never mentioned anything about that. I thought she would be able to recognize another ninja if she saw one.

Has she ever seen Santa-sama? With the incredible abilities he seems to have at his disposal, I can see no other possibility than being a ninja.

I was pretty sure Santa dresses in red and carries a great big sack. That doesn't seem very ninja-like to me...

You must not know many ninjas from our world. Many ninjas can carry sacks of large sizes, and in fact it becomes more understandable that he could fit presents for so many people into one sack if you consider a ninja's summoning arts. Additionally, one of the greatest ninjas whom I know is Naruto-kun, who wears all orange! He seeks to become Hokage one day... if he succeeds, it is easy to imagine him being much like Santa-sama when he reaches old age!

I thought ninjas were supposed to be all stealthy and stuff, though. How can they hide from people if they're wearing red or orange? I mean, I guess they could use something like Sheena's, um, what was it called? Her technique where she made a log look like a person. But that seems like a lot more work than just wearing black or dark colors instead.

Ah, that is a substitution jutsu. It is a technique we share! It is true that we operate in stealth. If you want to know for sure, perhaps you can try asking Naruto-kun, himself. He is here in Luceti, after all. Of course, if you have not noticed him yet... then perhaps he is already succeeding at stealth...

Wouldn't it only count as succeeding at stealth if he were trying to be stealthy in the first place?

That is true! But to be stealthy without even trying is certainly an admirable point to start from!

I thought it just meant that people didn't notice you.

That is but one meaning! As ninja, we are taught to look for the meanings behind meanings! So you see, things are much more complicated than they appear.

The meanings behind meanings? What does that mean? Are you talking about things like puzzles or riddles?

Perhaps you can think of it like that! It is about looking beyond meanings and secrets... to find even deeper meanings! That is a job of a ninja.

That sounds a lot more complicated than I thought. I thought being a ninja was all about being sneaky and knowing how to use, um... techniques? I think that was what Sheena called them.

I am sure that everything has more complexities than one thinks! I have met Sheena-san in the past. She may be hiding much from you about the ninja way! Such is the way of a ninja, after all.

Wait, so you mean there's a lot more that Sheena hasn't told us about? Like more secret techniques and stuff like that?

I am sure of it! That is why they are secret, after all.

So they wouldn't just share those things with someone who isn't a ninja, right?

Yes, that is so. We ninja must keep our secrets for the most part.
