[It was over. Everything was over now. And once again, much as it was after they had dealt with Diavolo, Emil finds himself limping back home, exhausted and in pain and vaguely sick at the realization that they'd had to kill Zelman to end all of this. Although he wasn't the one who struck the killing blow, it still distresses him to know that he played a role in the whole thing. At least everyone is safe now... right? He takes his journal out and opens it to ask.]

I-is everyone all right? It's... we stopped Zelman. It's over now... [His voice is tired, shaky, with a slight note of disbelief.]

[Now he just hopes he can make it home without collapsing first.]

Emil! Where are you?

[he doesn't sound amused, Emil. No, not at all. You'd better comply like a good boy, this time.]

I'm going back to the apartment...

[At this point he's really too tired and in too much pain to catch Richter's tone of voice.]

Are you injured?

[He's silent for a moment.]

... it's not too bad.

[He's going to be standing outside the apartment, now. The second Emil dares to show his face, he's going to be receiving a face full of healing magic.]

[It takes him several minutes to get there; he can't exactly move very quickly in his current state. Now that the adrenaline has worn off and he's no longer in Ratatosk Mode, he's realizing just how much damage he's taken. Ouch.]

[the second Emil rounds a corner, Richter starts casting.]

... Heal.

[it's amazing how often he's used that spell in the last few weeks. He hardly had any need for it back home.]

[Oh man, you have no idea how much he needed that. That helps take the worst edge off the pain, at least for right now.]

Richter...

[Sadly, as Emil gets close enough for Richter to inspect him even remotely properly, it's obvious the boy needs a lot more healing. Something Richter can't manage to solve all on his own. He'll have to try one or two more healing spells, then decide whether Emil should return to the clinic or just rest up in the apartment.]

[He manages a shaky smile at Richter even though he feels like he's about to pass out.]

T-thank you.

[well, it looks like Emil is more exhausted than anything else.]

... Let's just get you inside.

[Oh, he's in plenty of pain too, he's just hiding it.]

Okay.

[And he's going to start limping towards the door.]

[well, yes. But no real gaping holes in his abdomen or deep gashes in his arms or anything like that. So unless he's suffering from internal bleeding, he's fine.]

[he takes one of Emil's arms and pulls it over his shoulder to support the kid. There's no way he can limp up those stairs without any help.]

[His eyes go wide for a brief instant, but he allows Richter to help him, grateful for the support. The other is right-- there's no way he could make it up the stairs on his own, and to be honest he might not be able to make it up even with the help.]

[you'd better not faint on me, Emil. Richter just spent three Heal spells on you. You made it to the apartment by yourself, so you'll make it to bed with help.]

[No, no fainting, but he's not sure he can make it up several flights of stairs. It would be a different story if their apartment was on the second floor...]

[but Richter prefers a higher floor. It's more difficult to reach for outsiders. He didn't expect he'd be sharing it with a kid who's injured half the time.]

[It isn't like he's doing it on purpose, really. And he's going to try his best to get up those stairs.]

[you just want to be carried, don't you? Admit it.]

[Do not! See, trying really hard to climb the stairs!]

[they've reached the third floor, now. Almost there, Emil. Don't you quit on Richter now!]

[He's trying, really he is, but it's getting hard for him to walk now.]

I-I need to sit down for a little...

[he lowers Emil onto the stairs so the boy can sit down on one of the steps.]

[He's grateful for the chance to rest-- leaning back, he takes a few deep breaths, then winces as that causes a sharp pain to shoot through his side where Jade's Ground Dasher spell had wounded him earlier. Of course, he tries to hide the flinch before Richter can see it.]

[you can't hide anything from Richter. Emil should know that]
