[Near the edge of town is a small blue-clad heap lying motionless near some bushes. He appears to be rather the worse for wear: in addition to the typical cuts and bruises from a kidnapping, one wing is somewhat mangled, missing a bunch of feathers and bleeding heavily. That's the most obvious injury, though there may be more. He's curled up into a sort of protective ball...]

[After probably being informed by Raine or Sheena (uhh), Richter practically dashes into the clinic, his eyes whipping around the room in search of Emil.]

[He's lying curled in the bed, blankets tucked carefully around his injured wing, which is now bandaged and splinted. The sound of the door slamming open is enough to get him to open his eyes slightly, attempting to focus them on whoever just entered the room.]

Emil!

[He rushes over to the boy's bedside, trying to assess the damage. From what he can tell, said damage is pretty bad.]

[Even as tired and in as much pain as he is, the sight of Richter is enough to coax a weak smile out of him.]

... Richter...

[At that weak voice, Richter realizes there's no point in asking Emil how he's doing. We'll skip immediately ahead to trying to fix the problem. Or, at least, lessen it.]

First Aid.

[Emil lets out a soft exhalation as the spell helps ease the pain in his wing somewhat. At this point, anything that will make it hurt less is more than welcomed.]

[Richter just gives a sigh in return, before turning to grab a nearby chair. He takes a seat next to the bed, watching Emil closely.]

How are you feeling?

[He blinks a few times as if trying to think. It's not very effective.]

Dizzy... and it hurts a lot. Kinda sick, too...

[Richter would try another healing spell, but the chances are likely it won't help much. After all, the mages in the clinic will have probably healed Emil to the best of their ability anyway. Instead, he reaches out to carefully run a hand through the boy's hair.]

[His first instinct is to try to pull away-- he's still a bit jumpy after everything he's been through. But once the hand actually makes contact with his head, Richter will be able to see his entire body relax, almost as if all the tension within him has been released.]

[It certainly doesn't escape Richter's notice. That's why he continues the stroking, gently massaging Emil's scalp.]

[Right now Emil is wavering between feeling extremely relieved and wanting to cry for some odd reason, so he just stays quiet lest he let his emotions betray him.]

[Richter will stay by his side as long as possible. Of course, he's not actually going to say a word. Emil needs to rest and there's no point in conversing more than he should.]

[Slowly, hesitantly, Emil reaches a hand out to Richter, his intent plain. He's fine with the lack of talking; he's too tired to speak. He just wants to be assured of Richter's presence while he rests.]

[The intent was indeed very plain. Richter takes the hand in his own, entwining their fingers. He's not going to go anywhere.]

[Emil gives the hand as much of a squeeze as he can manage before shutting his eyes. Maybe now he'll finally be able to fall asleep...]

[Let's hope so. It's clear for anyone to see the boy needs rest. He'll probably be in the clinic for a week or more.]
