[His voice is tired and shaky, but with an obviously forced cheerfulness.]

I, um... i-if I did anything to hurt anyone during this experiment, I-I'm really sorry. Everyone else is okay, r-right? Some of the things people got turned into were pretty scary.. I'm g-glad this is all over with.

I-I hope we don't have another experiment like that any time soon. I think I liked the ones that didn't involve being changed into anything b-better.

[OOC: Yeah, the kid is stammering like crazy because he's sitting out in the snow without a coat. Ratatosk, you are a genius.]

[And here he looks down, unable to meet Richter's eyes. Almost out of instinct he wraps his arms around himself in an attempt to stop the shivering.]

... I d-don't remember anything. I remember going to the store to get groceries, and t-then nothing until I came to out in the forest.

[Don't do that, Emil. He's not mad at you and it wasn't your fault. Stand up for yourself just this once.]

Luckily, nothing too serious happened while the experiment was going on.

[Well, that's a bit of a relief. He swallows hard.]

[At this point Emil is going to lean back against the door, partly from relief and partly to help keep himself upright.]

[If anyone's aware of the difference between Emil and Ratatosk, it'd be Richter. He can't blame the kid for anything that bastard says or does.]

But n-no one else besides you knows about Ratatosk. They won't know t-that I'm not the one who said those things.

You're not literally Ratatosk. You're another side of him. It's not the same.

[He shakes his head quietly.]

I can't k-keep blaming him for everything and acting like I have n-nothing to do with it.

You don't have anything to do with it. You can't control anything Ratatosk says or does, just like he can't control you.

T-then what am I supposed to do? Am I just supposed to l-let him do whatever he wants and not take any responsibility for the people he hurts?

At this time, Ratatosk is beyond reasoning. Not you, nor anyone else will be able to stop him.

I can't l-let this keep happening, Richter... he could hurt someone, even kill them, and I c-can't do anything about it!

You can try to avoid conflict. If there's no need for Ratatosk to emerge, there's no chance for him to attack anyone.

[Emil is clearly starting to get pretty agitated now.]

[Emil's not the only one. Richter's getting fairly frustrated himself, thanks to the kid's denseness.]

Y-you don't understand... Ratatosk doesn't only show up when I fight. Sometimes he c-comes out when I'm angry or scared as well, and... I c-can't control when that happens.

Then there's nothing that can be done.

[Even though that's sort of what he'd been expecting, it still doesn't make it any easier to hear. All the fight seems to go out of him at this, legs giving out as he slides down the wall to sit on the floor with a sigh.]

[Richter's still pretty annoyed by the fact that after everything that's happened in the last week, all Emil's doing right now talking himself down. There's more important things to be done.]

First of all, it's obvious you need to rest. Any further worrying can wait until you've recovered.

[Oh, Emil can tell he's annoyed, and that's just making him feel worse... but he really doesn't know what he should do. His primary fear is hurting someone if this happens again, which it very well might.]

I-I'll be fine...

[He tries to push himself back up to a standing position but winces.]

[Oh Emil... Don't you know lack of rest only causes stress, which in turn causes Ratatosk mode? Richter holds a hand out to the boy to help him up]

Not if you keep pushing yourself like this.

[To Emil's credit, he's already pretty stressed out right now and is still managing to remain in control-- looks like's gotten at least a little bit stronger while he's been here. Carefully he takes the hand and pulls himself to his feet, suddenly feeling exhausted.]

[Siiigh. He decides not to comment, instead snaking an arm around the boy's back to hold him up and lead him to the bedroom.]

[As much as he might want to, he's going to resist the urge to lean. It's pretty obvious that Richter isn't exactly happy with him right now, after all, so he's just going to remain quiet. If he doesn't say or do anything, there's nothing he can be scolded for.]
