[Emil can be found outside of House 20 trying in vain to patch a rather sizable hole in one of the walls, the result of a pissed-off Ratatosk (in a thread that hasn't been finished yet, oops) trying to get Vyse and Stahn out of his house. It's obvious that he doesn't know what he's doing and he doesn't have the proper tools to do a real repair; he's just trying to block up the hole as best he can to keep the snow and the wind out.

It doesn't look like it's working that well.]

[Sighing here, and a bit of a forced smile.]

I think that proved my point well enough.

I'm fine.

[It's automatic, really; he's still feeling awkward after their last encounter. He still doesn't feel like Yuri understands how he feels, that he's resentful of Yuri having his friends and family around. Of course, he isn't actually going to TELL the guy what he's thinking, either.]

Could've fooled me.

[That's said pretty sternly. It's pretty damn obvious Emil's nowhere near fine, and Yuri's not about to butter up the fact that that's obvious.]

[That tone causes him to cringe somewhat, but he tries not to let it show as he picks the hammer back up. No, he hasn't been fine for quite a while now. He's just gotten good at hiding it-- or maybe not.]

My hand just slipped, that's all.

That's not what I meant. [Taking a few steps closer now, getting a good look at the damage. He really wants to ask how this even happened, but that can come later.] ... You're better off putting a tarp over it for now. Let someone else help you with it when you have the time to ask.

I have to fix it before the snow starts getting in. It's going to make a mess if I don't...

That's what the tarp's for. [ ... ] And if you're that determined to fix it yourself, covering the outside with it lets you work indoors at least.

Not as much as it is now.

Yuri, I... I'm sorry. For yelling at you like that. I just...

[Pausin' here. Well, that kinda threw him off-guard. Regardless, sighing now.]

... Forget it. We'll talk about that when the great outdoors isn't blowing through that hole anymore. [More like he doesn't know how to word what he wants to say without sounding pissed off or tense and is hoping some kind of random side-job might relax him a bit, but eh.]

[Emil is going to take this as a rebuff of his apology and slump somewhat. He really did mean it this time; it wasn't just one of his automatic "I'm sorry"s, so having it blown off like that kind of hurts.]

R-right.

[trueknight]

[Sorry kid, he can't think of any way to accept it without sounding bitter or dismissive about it at the moment. Still, he's noticing the slump, so he forces a small smile and gives Emil a bit of a hair ruffle.]

Alright, let's get to work.

H-hey!

[NOT THE HAIR, WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE HAIR. He'll look away for a quick moment, though, and try not to think about the fact that Richter always used to stroke his hair.]

[That was not a stroke, boy, that was a ruffle. Enjoy fixing your hair back up, because Yuri's starting to walk off.]

I'll go pick up a tarp. You might as well head inside for now.

[Hair touching is still hair touching, and he still has to smooth his hair back down as a result.]

Okay... thanks, Yuri.

[And a good fifteen minutes later, Yuri's heading back with a fairly large tarp. Now, where are you, Emil?]

[He's actually being a good boy and waiting inside like Yuri told him to.]

[That ... actually surprises Yuri a bit. He was half-expecting Emil to be still working away at the wall or something, but it's definitely nice to see that that isn't the case this time. +1 positive mood on his end.

Either way, he'll just head over to the hole and call out to Emil from there. What? It's faster that way |:]

Hey, Emil!

[Well, he's cold and tired and could really use the break, and it's marginally less cold inside than it is outside. Plus there's no snow or wind inside the house. Yet.]

Y-Yuri!

[NO YURI don't look in the house; he and Sheena had similar ideas after Lloyd went home, only Emil's involved trashing his house rather than destroying a tree.]

[Well, he did take a peek and saw that the house didn't exactly look ... awesome, but he's honestly tired of fighting with Emil over what he does with his life. He may say something about it later, but for right now, this hole in the wall comes first. So, he'll just lightly lean against the outside wall of the house and continue talking.]

I've got the tarp, so head back out and give me a hand with it.

Right!

[And Emil will be coming out the front door a few moments later, equipped with hammer and nails and... well, he doesn't know what else you need to put a tarp up, so that's all he's got at the moment.]

[Luckily, that's all he needs anyway. Yuri's getting to work with opening up the folded tarp and flattening it out. ... It's probably a fair amount bigger than the hole, but whatever.

Yuri glances over when he notices Emil approaching.]

Alright, looks like we've got everything we need. [holding the tarp over hole now] You can put that stuff down. Hold this up for me instead.

Okay.

[Emil will try! ... and fail, because he's too short to reach the top of the hole by himself. Being 5'6 1/2" sucks when you're a guy.

Um. This is obviously not going to work like this.]

[trueknight]

[... Well, at least he's trying. He'll watch for a few moments before shaking his head a little.] ... Maybe you should try holding it in place instead.
